Before our tuition lessons commence, we spend time with our students and their parents to fully understand what the student’s learning needs are and develop a study plan going forward. This is carried out through our complimentary ‘meet and greet’ session.
Each student differs in personality and ability so our consultation allows us to tailor the study programme and understand the techniques required to get the best out of our student. Our ‘meet and greet’ session also allows the student to build rapport with our tutor and vice-versa.
If necessary we arrange for the student to be academically assessed by the tutor after the ‘meet and greet’ session to help set realistic goals and targets, also allowing attention to be paid on the areas the student needs most development in. We also take school timetables and syllabuses into account to optimise and best align the two study paths.
My Private Tutor has a unique approach to studying which is welcomed by parents. We have found the ‘meet and greet’ sessions allows the student to ease into private tuition and feel fully comfortable with the tutor.
Meet and Greet
Once our students have settled in, our tutors assess them on an arbitrary basis, whether it is bi-weekly or monthly, depending on each student’s circumstances. Our tutors prepare examinations based on the topics covered in lessons. These exams are to be completed for homework during the student’s own time. We find this method allows the tutor and parents to evaluate progress made by the student and areas which further need working on. Furthermore, it means we revisit topics with the student on a regular basis keeping techniques fresh in their minds.
At My Private Tutor, we like to keep engaged with our students and their parents by offering feedback on a regular basis. We keep track of the students’ progress via our assessment methods and consult with their parents on best practices going forward. My Private Tutor also places huge importance on our students’ educational needs outside of our tuition lessons, whether it is at home, online or at school, by offering advice on how to balance the different learning streams.
